Refrigerator sizes and dimensions explained
Marketed size classes are useful starting points, but actual model dimensions and installation requirements decide fit.
What the ExactFit dataset shows
These ranges use 598 models with complete cavity-fit inputs from the 911-model reviewed catalog. Most recent included review: 2026-09-07. They describe this dataset, not every refrigerator sold.

Common marketed width classes
Retail labels often round dimensions. The table counts complete ExactFit records by verified actual width, so it is a dataset distribution rather than an industry standard.

Width, height, and depth are not single endpoints
Width
Overall closed-door width describes the product. Required opening width may instead come from a manufacturer cutout or from product width plus supported side ventilation.
Height
Cabinet height and height with hinge can differ. The controlling supported endpoint and top clearance determine fit beneath an overhead cabinet.
Depth
Cabinet-only depth, door depth without handles, handle depth, and door-open depth answer different questions. Cabinet depth plus rear clearance governs the cavity fallback; the other endpoints describe projection and operation.
Standard-depth and counter-depth refrigerators
These are product classes, not exact dimensional promises. A counter-depth model may still project beyond the counter at its doors and handles. A standard-depth model’s usable cavity requirement also depends on rear clearance and any applicable cutout.
Installation clearance versus operating clearance
Ventilation and rear or top installation allowances support safe placement. Hinge-side wall clearance, adjoining-wall clearance, and door-open depth describe operation. ExactFit keeps these concepts separate and never substitutes an unknown operating endpoint with zero.
