How ExactFit verifies dimensions and decides whether a model fits

What we check

ExactFit compares a finished opening with a refrigerator’s reviewed cavity dimensions and installation requirements. It keeps cabinet, hinge, door, handle, ventilation, and wall-clearance endpoints separate.

Three opening measurements do not evaluate delivery turns, door or drawer access, electrical work, water connections, trim, flooring, or unusual surrounding geometry.

Source hierarchy

1. Exact-model installation manual.

4. Verified sibling or same-chassis documentation.
5. Reputable retailer data.
6. Other evidence.

Authority alone does not settle applicability. The document must describe the right model, endpoint, and installation condition. Every measurement links to the retained source location when available.

Exact-model and equivalent-model evidence

An exact-model source explicitly covers the model being checked. Equivalent-model evidence applies only when the retained review establishes the relevant shared geometry for that particular measurement. Finish or family similarity alone is not proof.

Each transferred value identifies its supporting model or family, evidence, review decision, and any recorded differences. Missing relationship details are disclosed; unsupported assumptions cannot establish a safe fit.

Conflicting and unknown values

Different endpoints are not automatically conflicts: cabinet height and hinge height can both be correct. When sources disagree about the same endpoint, ExactFit retains the alternatives and selection rationale. Values are never averaged to settle a conflict.

An unresolved material conflict leaves the required value Unknown. Low-confidence assumptions and unspecified minimum clearances are not treated as zero. An unknown input cannot produce a pass.

Confidence and evidence coverage

Evidence pages show factual coverage counts instead of an opaque numerical score. Exact-model manufacturer evidence, verified equivalent-model evidence, secondary sources, and unknown records are counted separately. Left and right ventilation can share one source record.

Complete exact-model evidence requires every fit-critical input to have exact-model manufacturer support. Complete mixed evidence includes a selected value from equivalent or secondary evidence. Incomplete evidence means a required value is unknown. Conflicting evidence means a material conflict remains unresolved.

Stored confidence labels and calculation formulas appear in expanded measurement details. A registry check confirms consistency of the reviewed value and provenance; it does not mean an inferred value was directly printed by the manufacturer.

How the calculation works

Use an applicable exact-model cutout requirement for each axis when one is published. Otherwise, required width is overall width plus left and right ventilation; required height is the controlling height plus top clearance; required cavity depth is cabinet depth without doors plus rear clearance.

Calculated installation envelopes retain their formulas and source inputs. Door and handle projection are not substituted for cavity depth. Operating clearances remain a separate check. Margin is available space minus required space; a negative margin proves a failure.

What the result means

• Fits: every required evaluated dimension is known and clears your opening.
• Does not fit: at least one known requirement exceeds your available space, even if another requirement is unknown.
• Uncertain: no known requirement fails, but a required value or applicability condition is missing, conflicting, or unsupported.

Nominal labels such as “36 inch” and “counter-depth” are not fit guarantees. Use the exact model and the named endpoints.

Updates and corrections

Each evidence record has a review date. Manufacturer documents can change; confirm the current version before purchasing. Corrections are reviewed against the original source and related calculations. When an input changes, dependent values and provenance checks must be updated together.

Report an incorrect measurement with the exact model, endpoint, document URL, and page number if available.
