Why advertised size is not enough
Dimensions have different endpoints
Nominal width may differ from actual width. Hinge height can exceed cabinet height. Cabinet depth, door depth, and handle projection describe different parts of the appliance.
Space is needed around it, too
Rear, side, and top ventilation allowances consume space. Doors and handles affect operation and traffic flow. A missing value must remain uncertain.
What the calculator checks
Overall width and applicable side clearances; height to the controlling endpoint and top clearance; cabinet/cavity depth and rear clearance. Applicable manufacturer cutout requirements take precedence.
Door swing, delivery route, plumbing obstacles, and unusual surrounding geometry require separate checks. A cavity fit is not an installation guarantee.

Which refrigerator measurement usually causes a fit problem?
The limiting measurement varies by kitchen. Common problems are hinge height beneath an overhead cabinet, cabinet depth plus rear clearance, side ventilation, and door swing beside a wall. ExactFit reports the tightest evaluated margin instead of assuming width is always decisive.
Should I measure the old refrigerator or the empty opening?
Measure the finished opening. The old appliance may be smaller than the available space, may have been installed without the current manufacturer clearance, or may use different hinge and depth endpoints than a replacement model.
Does a 36-inch opening fit every 36-inch refrigerator?
No. A nominal 36-inch refrigerator can have a different actual width, and the installation guide may require extra side space. Compare the exact overall width plus its published clearances with the narrowest finished width of the opening.
Why are cabinet depth and overall depth different?
The cabinet box is the useful starting point for cavity depth because doors and handles normally project beyond the enclosure. ExactFit then adds the published rear requirement. Door and handle projection still matter for traffic flow and must be checked separately.
What does Uncertain mean?
Uncertain is not a failure and it is not a safe-fit approval. It means a required model value is missing, conflicting or not applicable without more information, such as wall position or delivery-route measurements.
Why can one refrigerator have two published heights?
Manufacturers often label separate endpoints, such as cabinet top, hinge top and overall product height. Those numbers are not automatically contradictory. ExactFit keeps the endpoint labels and may use the larger reviewed value as a conservative fit envelope.
Do the results guarantee installation?
No. Confirm current exact-model manufacturer documents and site-specific conditions, including delivery route, door swing, plumbing, electrical connections, trim, and flooring.
